Anywhere opportunity exists, opportunists will generally find a way to prey on the unsuspecting. The dropshipping business is no exception to this rule. Dropshipping scams have popped up all over the Internet during the past few years, promising would-be dropshippers exclusive access to the best manufacturers and wholesalers and selling them on miracle profits.

As with any online or offline business, dropshipping businesses take work. There is no magic pill and no overnight solution to success. Dropship scams prey on the promise of the Internet as a new platform for career success and the knowledge gap between the sellers and the buyers of such dropshipping solutions.

There is much commentary about such dropshipping scams and it’s often difficult for the consumer of such information to discern the truth about dropshipping providers. We’ve done our own original research, used many of the systems ourselves, been involved in eCommerce for many years and have our own $.02 to add to the chatter.

It is important, when analyzing a so-called dropship scam, to determine what makes a scam and what doesn’t. These are the qualities that we consider important when determining what makes a good provider of dropshipping information:

  • Integrity of advertising – does your membership offer what you say that it offers?
  • Truth in advertising – do you promise a lavish lifestyle or do you simply promise the opportunity to connect with..say..1 million qualified dropshippers?
  • Customer service – can you contact someone at the company within a reasonable period of time if and when you need to?
  • Robustness of search feature – is it easy to search for products and dropshipping companies within the interface?
  • Size of dropshipping database – how many dropshipping wholesalers does the company’s membership entitle you to?
  • Purity of database – are the products in the dropshipping database unique and qualified?
